>SUBJECT: DECOMMISIONING OF ASC HANCOCK
>
>1. AFTER OVER 34 YEARS OF PROVIDING MESSAGING SERVICES TO THE NATIONAL COMMAND AUTHORITIES, CINC'S, SERVICES, DOD AGENCIES,FEDERAL AGENCIES, ALLIES, ETC., THIS ASC WILL CEASE OPERATIONS ON 30 SEPTEMBER 2000.  IT'S A SAD TIME FOR US, BUT THE LEGACY WE LEAVE BEHIND REFLECTS THAT WE LIVED UP TO OUR MOTTO, THE FIRST, THE BEST, THE PROUDEST.
>
>2. AS AN ASC, WE PASSED OUR FIRST MESSAGE ON 10 APRIL 1966.  IN THE 34 YEARS THAT FOLLOWED, WE HAVE PROCESSED CLOSE TO TWO BILLION MESSAGES WITH OUR ALL TIME MONTHLY HIGH OF 6,283,393 COMING AS RECENTLY AS MAY 99.  SADLY, THIS WILL BE ONE OF THE LAST MESSAGES PROCESSED BY OUR ASC.
>
>3. WE HAVE TRULY ENJOYED PERFORMING OUR MISSION AND SATISFYING OUR CUSTOMERS' REQUIREMENTS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITIES. WE LEARNED THAT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION REQUIRES CUSTOMER INTERACTION AND WE'RE SURE THAT INTERACTION WAS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTION TO THE AUTODIN LEGACY.
>
>4. WE TAKE WITH US 14 AWARDS AS THE DISA OUTSTANDING DCS >FACILITY, CATEGORY 7, FOR AUTODIN SWITCHING CENTERS.  WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND THE HIGH STANDARDS WE SET.  SOME OF US WILL MOVE ON TO CONTINUE OUR CAREERS IN THE COMMUNICATIONS ARENA, BOTH GOVERNMENT AND DYNCORP.  OTHERS WILL FINALLY LOOK FORWARD TO THOSE GREAT RETIREMENT YEARS.
>
>5. WE WISH THE BEST TO OUR LAST FEW REMAINING CUSTOMERS AND OUR >FORMER CUSTOMERS THAT WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE "LEGACY" MESSAGING SUPPORT FROM OUR THREE REMAINING SISTER SWITCHES OR DEFENSE MESSAGE SYSTEM (DMS) TRANSITION HUBS (DTH).  WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK OUR SISTER SWITCHES FOR THEIR SUPPORT OVER THE YEARS.  IN CLOSING, WE WANT TO PASS ALONG OUR THANKS TO THE GREAT FOLKS AT DISA, THE ARMY, AND OUR SUPPORTING CONTRACTORS THAT MADE OUR JOB SO ENJOYABLE FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.
